World Poker Tour Announces Deal
Season XXI of the World Poker Tour is set to kick off this month and has recently released some exciting news. World Poker Tour has announced a multi-year deal with CBS Sports Network, making it the exclusive place to watch the WPT premier episodes. Fans can sit back and relax in the comfort of their homes while watching the world poker champions play with high stakes.
What to Expect
The first episodes you can expect to see will be a thrilling repeat of the 2023 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship, this is when star player Josh Reichard carved his name into the poker hall of fame. The partnership with CBS Sports will then bring poker fans all the action from Seasons XII and XXII and include special events such as the 2023 $40 Million GDT WPT World Championship and the highly anticipated Club WPT Gold $5 Million Invitational Freeroll.
CBS Sports Network has showcased many poker tournaments over the years, including the World Series of Poker and PokerGO in 2021, so it is no surprise that the World Poker Tour now joins the mix.
Words from the Authorities
World Poker Tour CEO, Adam Pliska said, “Since our debut on the Travel Channel back in 2002, the WPT has grown tremendously in both production quality and reach,” he then went on to say,
we are incredibly excited to partner with a top-tier network like CBS Sports and share our premium poker programming with their vast audience.
Vice president of the WPT, Loc Sondheim has said that the CBS Sports Network is the perfect partner to elevate WPT TV and bring it to new viewers. He said that it was an honor to showcase the excitement of poker on a network that features some of the biggest events in sports.
Poker Taking Over the TV
The Poker World Series has been broadcast on the CBS Sports Network since 2021, previously home to ESPN. Now with the addition of the World Poker Tour to the list, it solidifies CBS Sports as the place to be for top poker events and tours. There is a growing interest in poker being televised and CBS Sports now gives fans front row seats to be in on all the poker action across the world.
