Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas The Rio Offering Loyalty Points

It has been revealed that Rio Las Vegas has forged a partnership with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, allowing members of the World of Hyatt rewards program to earn and redeem loyalty points at the Rio.

The Rio is located slightly off the Las Vegas Strip and is a popular choice among visitors looking for a casino resort that is close to the action but not directly on the Strip.

Previously known as the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the Rio Las Vegas is currently undergoing a $340 million renovation, marking a new chapter for the iconic property. The decision to switch from Caesars Entertainment to Hyatt Hotels Corporation as the hotel operator was made by the property’s owner, Dreamscape, which is a subsidiary of New York-based real estate investment firm Imperial Companies.

Dreamscape acquired the Rio from Caesars in December 2019 for $516.3 million, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted the hospitality industry worldwide.

Loyalty Program for Hyatt Members

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Dreamscape managed to get through by extending its operating lease with Caesars until October 31, 2021. With the transition complete, Dreamscape has embarked on a comprehensive renovation project, with the first phase scheduled to be unveiled to guests this year.

The initial phase will showcase the fully remodeled 1,501-room Ipanema Tower, boasting extensive upgrades and enhancements to various facilities including guestrooms, the lobby, casino floor, restaurants, and the outdoor pool complex.

One of the highlights of the partnership between Rio Las Vegas and Hyatt is the introduction of a loyalty program for World of Hyatt members. Effective immediately, Hyatt rewards members can accrue points for all stays at the Rio, with an additional incentive of a 500-point bonus for each qualifying night at the resort until June 30.

David Tarr, senior vice president of development of Hyatt Americas, said:

We’re proud to collaborate with Rio Hotel & Casino on this transformational project to revitalize the iconic hotel as a Destination by Hyatt hotel in a key market like Las Vegas.

Eric Birnbaum, Founder of Dreamscape, also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that it presented an opportunity to attract a new demographic of travelers to the property.

Looking Ahead to the Second Phase

Looking ahead, the second phase of Rio’s renovation will focus on redesigning the Masquerade Tower’s 1,012 guestrooms and other public areas, with plans for the tower to also become a Destination by Hyatt property.

This partnership comes at a crucial time for Rio, which has faced challenges in recent years, including concerns about its aging infrastructure and safety issues in its parking lot. With this move, Rio becomes the sole overnight choice in Las Vegas with a casino for World of Hyatt members, offering them a unique destination to earn and redeem loyalty points.

Hyatt rewards points can also be used in Southern Nevada at Hyatt Place Las Vegas near the airport and Hyatt Place at Silverton Village, further enhancing the options available to members in the region.
