A recent study conducted by research firm Optimove has revealed a significant link between responsible gambling tools and the level of trust gamblers place in online gambling operators. The study, which was recently presented at the renowned Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, looked closely at players’ preferences and attitudes toward responsible gambling practices.
According to the report, which is called ‘Optimove 2023 Report of Players’ Preferences in iGaming Marketing’ around 75 percent of gamblers believe that operators who integrate responsible gaming tools into their platforms are more trustworthy and deserve loyalty. This finding underscores the crucial role that these tools play in ensuring a secure and transparent gambling environment for players.
The study further revealed that a staggering 90 percent of bettors proactively set betting limits for themselves, which officials said demonstrated a high level of self-awareness and responsibility. In addition, it was revealed that 97 percent of gamblers are aware of the various responsible gambling resources available, highlighting the success of operators and regulatory bodies in promoting safe gambling practices.
Despite this high level of awareness, there is a noticeable gap when it comes to the actual use of these resources, with only 56 percent of gamblers actively using them. This indicates the ongoing need for continuous efforts when it comes to encouraging gamblers to not only be aware of responsible gambling tools but to also actively engage with them.
According to a report in PlayUSA:
After analyzing the results of the study, Optimove formulated a five-recommendation strategy for online gambling operators that, in theory, ‘enhances the player experience but also effectively mitigates the risk of players developing unhealthy habits and practices.’
The strategies that were outlined included:
Officials believe that the Optimove study shows the crucial role responsible gambling tools play in maintaining a trustworthy and loyal relationship between operators and bettors.
According to reports, the proper implementation of AI-based responsible gambling tools can help operators to significantly reduce the risk of problem gambling, which has become a huge issue in many states. However, it is not just about implementing the tools, but also getting players to engage and use them. This means ensuring high levels of awareness, among other things.
As the industry continues to evolve, the use and promotion of responsible gambling practices will become increasingly vital in ensuring a safe and trustworthy gambling experience for players as well as providing increased protection.
