Mohegan Pennsylvania
It has been reported that Mohegan Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre has unveiled an exciting addition to its gaming offerings in the form of a smoke-free lounge. This has been developed in collaboration with Aristocrat Gaming, and it marks an important milestone for the operator. Mohegan is the commercial gaming arm of the Mohegan Tribe in Connecticut.
The newly opened Aristocrat Gaming Lounge at Mohegan Pennsylvania offers visitors a refreshing change from traditional gaming environments. Situated conveniently just inside the hotel entrance, the 2,000-square-foot venue boasts a range of 55 cutting-edge slot titles from Aristocrat Gaming, a renowned industry leader.
What the New Lounge Offers
Among the impressive array of offerings housed within the smoke-free venue are favorites like Dragon Link, Lightning Link, and Buffalo, alongside emerging hits such as Triple Supreme Extreme, Mo Mummy, and Whisker Wheels.
Mohegan Pennsylvania’s main casino floor spans an impressive 67,000 square feet and features over 1,600 slots and close to 60 live dealer table games. Around half of this sprawling gaming area is designated for cigarette smoking, although there is a strict ban on cigars.
The opening of the Aristocrat Gaming Lounge at Mohegan Pennsylvania reflects a broader nationwide trend in the gaming industry, whereby casinos are increasingly catering to the preferences of customers looking for cleaner air environments.
While Pennsylvania state law allows casinos to allocate up to 50 percent of their floor space for tobacco consumption, critics have argued that the exemptions granted to casinos under the state’s clean indoor air law result in hazardous secondhand smoke going into areas that are supposed to be smoke-free.
Third Smoke-Free Fully Enclosed Facility in the Commonwealth
A spokesperson for Mohegan stated that the Aristocrat Gaming Lounge is entirely enclosed, with convenient access points from both the Sky Food Court and the hotel premises. This marks only the third fully enclosed smoke-free casino facility within the Commonwealth.
Tony Carlucci, Mohegan Pennsylvania president, said:
We are thrilled to launch the smoke-free Aristocrat Gaming Lounge as part of our commitment to providing exceptional and comfortable gaming experiences. Our collaboration with Aristocrat, an award-winning casino slot provider, has allowed us to offer a truly exciting gaming experience.
Among Pennsylvania’s 17 brick-and-mortar gaming establishments, only two have opted to forego the state’s indoor smoking allowance. These are Parx Casino in Bensalem, which is situated north of Philadelphia, and its sister satellite property, Parx Casino Shippensburg.
Parx Casino has enjoyed the honor of being the state’s most lucrative casino for some time. The casino has reported impressive annual revenue figures and last year, it raked in $588.2 million from its physical slots and table games.
On the other hand, Mohegan Pennsylvania reported retail slot and table revenue of approximately $211.2 million, according to reports. This represented a slight decline from the $215.6 million recorded in the previous year.
Officials from Mohegan have said that the introduction of the Aristocrat Gaming Lounge highlights the company’s commitment to innovation, as well as customer satisfaction. It could also set a new standard for other casinos in the area.
