Live! Casino Pittsburgh
It has been revealed that Live! Casino Pittsburgh is to undergo major renovations aimed at enhancing the gaming experience for visitors. Owned by The Cordish Companies, the mini-casino is set to see a $3 million transformation. This will result in a range of new facilities and gaming options being opened up to those who visit the venue.
The renovation project will reconfigure the two-story gaming layout, with a key feature being the relocation of the poker room from the second floor to the first level. The new 1,050-square-foot poker facility will continue to host Texas Hold’em and Omaha games, providing a more accessible and streamlined gaming experience for visitors.
The former poker room is a 1,600-square-foot space, and this will be transformed into a special events area to complement Venue Live! This has been a popular venue for casino promotions and private events since its debut in 2022.
An Expansion of the High Limit Slots Room
In addition to relocating the poker room, the $3 million project will see an expansion of the first-floor High Limit Slots room.
This area will now include three high-limit table games and a new bar, catering to high rollers seeking a more exclusive gaming environment. Sean Sullivan, general manager of Live! Casino Pittsburgh, stated that these modifications were in response to player feedback, adding that some visitors were previously unaware of the existence of the poker room.
He said,
These improvements are a result of the continuous feedback we receive through a robust engagement process with our guests and our dedicated team members. We are proud to continue to reinvest in the facility and serve as a world-class gaming and entertainment destination for Westmoreland County.
Sullivan added that he believed guests would be thrilled with the new facilities that would be on offer following the expansion and renovations.
Making an Impact
Since opening in October 2020, Live! Casino Pittsburgh has made a huge impact as the first satellite casino in Pennsylvania. As a Category 4 casino, it features a gaming floor with a maximum capacity of 750 slot machines and 40 live dealer table games.
The casino has been operating at full capacity since late 2021, and also houses a FanDuel Sportsbook on the first floor, with sports betting kiosks scattered throughout the facility.
The transformation of the former Bon-Ton department store into a commercial casino has been a key factor in revitalizing the Westmoreland Mall. The casino’s presence has helped increase mall traffic and contributed to the mall’s 95 percent occupancy rate, according to officials.
The initial $150 million investment by Cordish included the addition of three full-service restaurants, including Sports & Social, Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar, and PBR Country Bar.
The second level of Sports & Social offers a variety of social, non-gambling games such as foosball, skeeball, arcade basketball, shuffleboard, bowling, and a golf simulator.
Pennsylvania is home to four mini-casinos, including Hollywood Casino York, Hollywood Casino Morgantown, and Parx Shippensburg. Among these, Live! Casino Pittsburgh led in revenue generation last year, reporting a gross gaming revenue of $114.7 million. In addition, its FanDuel Sportsbook contributed another $1.7 million to the revenue.
