Las Vegas Strip Given to Barry Manilow

Singing sensation Barry Manilow recently achieved yet another milestone in his career after he was presented with the keys to the Las Vegas Strip by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom. This came after he gave a record-breaking performance at the Westgate Las Vegas Casino Resort, where he has residency as one of its most iconic performers.

Manilow has broken an important record after performing his 637th sold-out show at the Westgate, which means that he has now beaten the record of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself, Elvis Presley.

The singer has won many awards during his career, including being a Grammy, Emmy, and Tony winner. He has had a dozen number-one singles in the United States and continues to wow audiences at the age of 80.

Solid Buildup Over 38 Years

Manilow did take some time to smash Elvis’s record, as it took 38 years to beat the record of 636 sold-out shows, which Elvis achieved in just seven years. However, he has now broken the record and will continue to log sold-out performances in Las Vegas.

His performances span decades, as he performed at the Westgate when it was known as the International Hotel, and again when it was known as the Las Vegas Hilton.

He did take a short residency at the Paris Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip for a year in 2011, before going on a world tour. He then returned to the Westgate Casino Resort in 2018 to take up residency again, where has has enjoyed continued success.

The Westgate website continues to advertise the star’s show, stating:

The website also went on to state that Manilow will be donating all proceeds from his record-breaking weekend performances to a number of charities. These include the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center, Manilow Music Project, Musicians on Call, Three Square, Victoria’s Voice, and Youth Villages. He has also signed up for another year at Westgate, according to reports.

Performances Regularly Sold Out

Manilow said that performances were sold out night after night, describing the audiences as being ‘just great’. He added that there was no reason not to sign up for another year at the Westgate.

The star looked surprised on stage when the Clark County Commissioner appeared on stage to present him with the key to the Las Vegas Strip. As one of the most iconic performers on the Las Vegas circuit, fans will undoubtedly feel that this is a well-deserved award.

Tickets for the star’s forthcoming shows will go on sale in early October, and there will undoubtedly be huge numbers of fans eager to purchase them. So, the singer will most likely continue with his run of sell-out shows for the upcoming year of his residency at the Westgate Casino Resort.
