Another Successful Month for Pennsylvania
According to the latest figures, April was yet another successful month for Pennsylvania online casinos. The data shows Pennsylvania’s online casino industry enjoyed impressive results for the month, as revealed by the latest report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. The report, which covered the month of April, highlighted the state’s ongoing success when it comes to digital casino gaming.
The figures showed that in April, Pennsylvania’s online casinos brought in a total of $212.2 million in gross gaming revenue. While this figure marks another milestone for the industry, breaking the $200 million barrier for the third consecutive month, it represents a slight decrease of nine percent from the record-breaking $233 million achieved in March of this year.
A Comparison of Figures
Reports outlined revenue figures for the last few months, comparing the figures since the start of this year. The data showed that in January 2024, GGR stood at $189,302,559. In February, this rose to $215,288,753, and in March it increased to an impressive $233,087,603.
Officials said that despite the slight dip in revenue compared to March, April’s performance still reflected an impressive 26.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The report also provided a breakdown of revenue streams. Online slots led the way, accounting for 77.7 percent of the total April revenue, coming in at $164,800,886. Table games revenue stood at $45,006,006, while online poker revenue came in at $2,405,721.
The data also showed that all categories experienced a decline compared to March of this year. Online slot revenue saw a 7.2 percent decrease, table games revenue experienced a 15.2 percent decrease, and online poker revenue saw a 2.8 percent decrease.
On the upside, when compared to April of last year, online slots and table games revenue saw impressive increases of 31.1 percent and 15.7 percent, respectively, while online poker revenue saw a decline of 11.2 percent.
Hollywood Penn National came out as the top earner in April, raking in $75.9 million in revenue. The other top performers included Valley Forge, Rivers Philadelphia, Harrah’s Philadelphia, and Parx.
Numbers Still High Despite Slowdown
Officials have said that although gambling activity in the US tends to slow down at this time of year, the figures for April are still impressive.
According to PlayUSA:
Although Pennsylvania’s iGaming market seems to be slowing down, April numbers are still quite high, putting the Keystone State ahead of other US online casino states. Online gambling activities usually decline in late spring and summer but then hit higher numbers in the fall and early winter.
While industry experts expect a seasonal decline in online gambling activities during the spring and summer, they also anticipate an increase in activity during the autumn and winter months.
Corey Sharp of PlayPennsylvania predicts that Pennsylvania’s online casinos are on track to generate $2.55 billion in revenue for 2024. With nearly $850 million already generated in the first four months of the year, it is thought that the industry will break through the $1 billion threshold in May.
