The American Gaming Association (AGA) released its latest research as Responsible Gaming Education Month approaches. The consumer survey led by Kantar on behalf of the AGA reports that more Americans than ever consider casino gaming acceptable entertainment, while three-quarters of the surveyed people support legal sports betting in their home state.

The research shows that more than half of the participants have tried at least one form of gaming entertainment over the past year. Over a quarter of adults have visited a physical casino, while 21% have wagered on sports. Such a record level of engagement naturally drives attention toward the industry’s efforts to operate responsibly.

US Gaming Industry’s Responsible Gambling Efforts Are Recognized

September is appointed as the month of responsible gambling nationwide, for which the AGA has already published the research results. With the NFL season approaching as well, the regulation of the sector is more than needed. A major increase in the public’s favorable opinion of the industry’s safe gambling practices is noted. 65% of Americans believe the sector is committed to responsible gaming, compared to last year’s 55%.

As gaming expands to new audiences, Americans increasingly see the benefits of a legal, regulated gaming marketplace that contributes to communities, prioritizes responsibility, and provides unmatched entertainment.

, confirms Joe Maloney, AGA’s Senior Vice President. Maloney also says the industry’s dedication to responsible gaming is stronger than ever, which has led consumers to notice.

More Awareness of Advertising, Responsible Gaming Programs, and Resources

2023’s research data revealed that 58% consider the gambling industry’s marketing and advertising truthful. This year’s results show that the percentage has grown to 65%, while 66% believe the offered responsible gaming programs are effective.

Other positive news from AGA’s research of the attitudes toward gaming is that players more often notice responsible gambling messages in land-based casinos and sports betting venues, a tendency that increased over the past couple of years. Precisely, 66% of the surveyed adults confirm they’ve encountered such messages in the past year, compared to 2022’s 55%. More Americans are aware of responsible gaming resources as well.

Statistics show that an impressive 90% of participants consider casinos innovative and say they offer good value for money compared to other entertainment sectors. More than three-quarters also believe the gaming industry positively impacts the US economy, bringing tourism and jobs to otherwise less attractive regions. The research has been conducted online between July 31 and August 9, 2024. Data has been collected from 2,000 registered voters aged 21 and over.
